The American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) are holding their 2016 Medical Writing & Communication Conference in Denver, Colorado, USA this autumn. The programme is packed with interactive educational events and networking opportunities. Sessions will cover a variety of topics, including how to make a success of your freelance business, the medical writer’s role in helping patients make healthcare decisions, tips for writing under pressure, and the new transparency policies in Europe. For an additional fee it will be possible to sit the Medical Writer Certification exam and the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS) exam. Other optional extras include a day-long intensive writing clinic and participation in AMWA workshops, which will impart practical guidance on a range of subjects relevant to medical writers, including statistics, grammar and ethics.
